BSOD-Help please :P

Well i recently formatted my pc and began rebuilding, ive sorted everything but today ive been getting the blue screen, its happened 3 times now and i think it was all because of alcohol 120%, rebooted to isntall and it bs and then recovered and after when i loaded it also bs, the most recent one was when i tried to burn an image from a cd it BS. The error im getting is driver less than equal IQ or something, i never understood what to look for on the blue-screen, any ideas?

It is likely to be either a memory problem (tun memtest 86+) or a hard drive problem - particularly if it is that dodgy hard drive that you mentioned in another thread.

Id say its gunna be the drive, ill run memtest in a bit. Can you run it in windows or when its booting? i got it on a linux disk but not downlaoded lol.

Its a boot disk - just download the ISo and burn it to CD and boot off the CD.

well just finished doing 1 test, no errors so how do i go about checking a hard drive? lol.

Look at the SMART data and/or get a mfr utility to test it.

Edit: sorry for double post, just BSOD while trying to burn disk again so is it possible it could be software related? i managed to take a pictureof the BS but i cant seem to find a file on my phone which is odd.

Well from a smart check it is very good apprently, checked the drive using WD tools all tools said it passed. heres a print screen of speedfan result to

You need a Windows Guru (Paul Adams or the like) to decode the error messages - but if the hard drive checks out OK, that puts the finger towards the memory - and if that checks out, either overheating or an iffy PSU.

However... just had a quick Google on the nvgts.sys file - which is a Nvidia Graphics card driver - and that appears to have been implicated in some BSODs. Do a Google on nvgts.sys and you will see several forums discussing it.

Thanks for the help peter, i did look and someone on another forum mentioned to update chipset drives for a similar issue, tried it and no more BSOD . Help is much appreciated.
