question about wireless USB

has anyone ever heard of something like this?

i plug this thing into a usb port on my PC. Then it broadcasts the signal to another thing... Then u plug the mouse or whatever into that?

computer USB port -----> module A -----> (wireless signal) -----> module B -----> my USB device

I think Keyspan also does one.

My AnywhereUSB mostly worked fine, but occasionally (perhaps once every few weeks - I leave it turned on 24/7) BSODs the PC. The way it works is with a software driver which emulates a USB port which in turn communicates with the bit of hardware connected via ethernet. I use(d) it with a webcam over a WRT54G wifi bridge and it worked very well aside from the occasional BSODs, which I put down to something funky interacting with the Digi USB drivers as I have lots of crap installed. When I used it on its own on another dedicated PC it worked fine forever.

Note that the AnywhereUSB is only compatible with certain USB devices - there's a program to test all your USB stuff on their web site to see whether they will work. http://www.digi.com/products/usb/anywhereusb.jsp - "compatibility check tool"

dang that's pretty expensive! hmm, i don't think its going to work too good for me. i wanted to be able to use my existing USB headphones and a mouse from my bed, but i think it would be cheaper to just buy new wireless headphones and a new wireless mouce lol.

I'll probably just get a usb extension coard though--that will probably be the easiest.
