e8600 overclocking thread
Hi,
Anyone else have an E8600? What sort of overclocks are you getting? Mine seems stable at 4.25Ghz using the retail cooler and all other settings at stock /auto.
I was going to watercool it, but there doesn't seem much point - I may upgrade the cooler to a better air one, but it seems almost silent as is. I'll report more when I've had a chance to play with the RAM settings etc.
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
Wow 4.25 using stock cooler? Bloody hell that's impressive! What are temps like?
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
~ 59 degrees. It probably will go higher - Vista collapses at 4.3Ghz, but I don't have time to start playing with voltages at the moment and quite frankly - really is there any point? ;-)
I'll slap on a new cooler when I get the chance and see if that makes any difference.
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
4.25Ghz is madness specially for stock cooler with everything else on auto... I need one of these.
I'm waiting for the i7 to come out later this year then you'll find plenty of people flogging there E8X00/Q9450's on ebay. Hopefully I can find a cheap one :D
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
wow thats impressive with stock cooler too
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
Am I really the only person with an E8600 on Hexus?
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
Well they are very new, and a little pricey compared to similar chips.

Probably! Very nice OC too.
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
I am still toying with getting one or a Quad but lower speed
I cant decide on what to get for me new rig. I dont want to cock it up
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
The auto setting overvolts quite a lot so I would take that off asap and manually tune the volts
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
Thats a good oc on stock cooler etc but as SIM says go to manual setting for volts especially if you are intending to go higher. Looks like a good offering from INTEL ( E0 stepping - also coming out on 8400/8500 soon) . You will be one of the first to have one here atm . Some guys elsewhere are getting them to 4.4--- 5 but in a lot of cases the v core is far to high for the 45 wafer. Looks like a great chip though , have fun with it . :)
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
Hello,
I've recently got my E8600 but cant seem to get stable past 4Ghz however, the vcore for my o/c is only 1.25v which I cant complain about.
What vcore is your motherboard giving your cpu at auto? I think 4.6Ghz is managable with a vcore of 1.45 but not sure whether its worth it.
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
wow nice!
I'm getting the E8400, I hope it can reach ~3.6Ghz on the stock cooler without to much temperature rise =p Than I would be happy ^_^
Anyhow, nice job, even that on stock cooler ;f
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
only thing is.... im watercooling, I werent expecting the chip to run that fast on a tiny vcore! i've come from using a q6600 in the cook-master cosmos 1000 case which was bloody hot!
Need to get the most out of this chip! :)
Re: e8600 overclocking thread
If only the quads could clock this good :(
