    HELP need another drive but no ware to connect it to

    hi

    i want to fit a dvd-rw drive but i have used all my places to connect it to

    i am now wandering if i can use a IDE to SATA adaptor for the DVD-rw drive and plug it in to my sata connection as i dont use them

    if it is possible how do i configure it

    use a PCI IDE controller such as a rocketmate card from highpoint, you can get a 1 channel 1 for about 15 quid and a 2 channel 1 for about 30 if my prices are correct

    Various e-tailers sell these


    As for the question on using the SATA convertor - these only work on IDE based hard-drives at the moment, but there is SATA based drives coming soon ( SATA 2.0 Spec I think )

    I think i've read that you can use sata->pata converters on atapi devices, so just try it and find out.

    how many drives are you using? Surely you don't need much more if you've got a DVD-RW, you can chuck the CD-RW then?
