    if you could have ANY laptop?

    which would it be? obvious contenders being alienware, apple + sony.

    me_ would have to be a 17'' powerbook with 1gb RAM upgrade.

    with osx / gentoo / win98 triple boot of course (assuming you can still get the latter?)

    only reason i ask is that iot will probably be my next one system

    i'd get another toshiba ultralight myself. very nice pieces of kit.. not too slow either

    I never even knew alienware did laptops, til i looked after reading this thread!

    But after looking at their site, think it would have to be one of their's. Would be tempted with a sony vaio tho.. centrino style...

    top of the range ailenwear weighs a whopping 7kg thou... my old toshiba ultralight in comparison weight under 1.9..

    this kinda annyos me - i spend £2000 on a hella nice pc - i could have spend another £1000, had it almost as fast and yet as portable as a folder!

    my pc weighs a tonne (well not as much as some, just a lot...)

    well, 4kg is a lot granted

    but only 33% more than the powerbook 17", £2000 less, and a lot more powerful (g4 can't compete with p4, end of conversation)
