    ASUS P5k-e red light

Hi all just installed a asus p5k-e wifi ap or what ever it is called and the mobo is displaying a red light, not good obviously. does anyone know the exact error it is refering to? there are no audible noises and the light is on continuosly. i have a horrible feeling it is telling me the cpu is dead.

    Re: ASUS P5k-e red light

yeah, well there's only the 24 pin power and the 8pin 12v, plus the graphic card power other than that there is not anything else.

i am water cooling and i have a feeling that as it was a new setup and the water hadnt got through the system it may of overheated. it takes about 30 seconds for the water to get through on its first go. could this of killed the chip? surly the chip/board would have a cut out on temp hitting like 70 degrees?

    Re: ASUS P5k-e red light

on the motherboard just above the PCI-e slot. just noticed when i fire it up all the water gear starts up ok and the green light (on the bottom of thr board) comes on so both lights are on, no hdd or cd roms are plugged in though, just want to get some activity.

    Any ideas?

    Re: ASUS P5k-e red light

yeh according to the book its an issue with the pci-e slot, resteat the card m8.

iirc that board has a led above every slot and lights up the led if it see's a problem.
