    Memtest86 errors

How bad are these cos I'm getting loads of them, but only when it gets to 98% in test 5.

Think I've found my stability problems.

They are almost always very bad. If you're overclocking the RAM (either by a higher FSB or lower timings) then it may not be a problem at it's rated speed / timings (though if that's the case try increasing the voltage (VDIMM)). If you're talking about problems at stock clocks / timings though then I'm 99% certain it's duff RAM (though again - more volts *may* help)

6 sticks of ram do it, but they all pass fine on another mobo on the same settings. It's not masivly unstable, just seems to do it ramdonly, more so when playing games. Could it be the mobo?

edit: the ram used to pass fine until recently

Sounds like it - could still be a config error though. Are you 100% sure that both mobos are using the same timings and supplying the same volts? Have you tried using less aggressive timings on the suspect mobo - or a higher VDIMM? Or a better PSU? If we're tallking socket A / nForce2 then try setting the CPU interface to normal not aggressive

Also - esp. if you haven't got much control over the timimgs, etc in the BIOS try the latest version (as it may be fixed).

    Ive using a NF7-S btw.

Ive reset the bios the the fail safe settings, slackened the timing but still no. Whats i dont understand is it was working fine last week, no errors at all. The CPU is being underclocked so it's not that, i've swaped the PSU, removed any uneeded devices.

If I leave all the voltages at the default value it seems to pass fine, as soon as i start upping them i start getting errors, the higher they go the more errors i get. That inclues the vcore/dimm/chipset

I'm running outta things to check

I would still check the CPU interface settings in the BIOS and try the lastest BIOS. Also can you overclock the RAM / CPU in the other motherboard? If you're overclocking the CPU make sure you can keep it cool enough... Heatsink mounted OK? Small layer of thermal goop? Fan on full speed (if you have any control over it). Small steps with the voltages and the MHz when overclocking... Hard to believe you've got a CPU and RAM that won't overclock at all / won't run at stock with higher volts...

Ive changed the interfece setting etc, still no good. Heat is no problem as i'm underclocking it atm, and the contact is good. thats why i think its a problem with the motherboard. The technical support guy agreed and I've got a RMA number now. Just watch it work perfectly for them when they test it now

Fair enough. It did sound dodgy but was trying to rule out any other possible problems. Where are you RMA'ing it to? Back to the retailer or straight to abit?

RMA'ing it back to OcUK, got the code off them now so just need to send it back.

I know what you mean by it sounding dodgy, the whole thing has confused the hel outta me. I feel sorry for the OcUK support guy I spoke to, he must've been just as confused
