Hi,
I built my computer about 8 months ago and after overclocking the cpu to 3.2Ghz (and feeling very happy with myself), i didn't really notice just how high my temps were.
Recently i have been reading a number of people complaining of "My temps are too high". a lot of them have Q6600 and have temps of 50 oC under load. I started getting worried when i realise mine are that temp at idle and at load they reach 70 with ease.
I have reseated my cooler (Tuniq Tower 120) with AS5 several times but there has been no difference.
I have the coolers fan pointing upwards towards an exhaust fan. I also have a fan below the cooler providing a fresh cool stream of air to the cooler.
I have twiddled with the pins attaching the tuniq tower to the cpu for so long that i literally have blisters.
Finally, i reduced the CPU voltage in the BIOS to as low as it will go at 1.125v. My PLL voltage is a 1.60v. I think this is all ok.
None of these things seem to have made any difference what so ever.
So, my question to you, am i just unlucky, have i got "one of those cpu's" which just isn't as good as the others?
It my fault, have i done something wrong when i was overclocking, have i left some voltage setting on auto so it is pumping too much voltage into a CPU?
Finally, is their anything i can do, would getting the Thermalright Extreme 120 make any difference?
Regards,
