    Over-volting RAM?

    hello,

I have heard that when overclocking the CPU, you should set the FSB/DRAM ratio to 1:1 to avoid pushing the RAM clock too far. I currently have my RAM running at 1067 mhz at 2.2V. If I reduce the clock of the RAM, by changing the ratio, but keep the same voltage, could I damage my RAM (because it is running with a lower clock with a voltage designed for a higher clock)?

    Re: Over-volting RAM?

I shouldn't affect the RAM doing that no.

The RAM is rated for 2.2V (I assume) and so it should be able to run those volts with no trouble, regardless of what frequency they are set to

If you can under-volt them and stay stable though you might as well. Saves power and heat.

    Re: Over-volting RAM?

Basically, no. However, why on earth would you want to do this?

    Re: Over-volting RAM?

    hello,

    Thanks guys.

Fraz, it's just to make sure the RAM clock doesn't go too high, whilst I'm trying different FSB speeds. It also means I'm not limited by the RAM in how high I can take the FSB.
