Re: Portable laptop for photo editing

    Hi all,

About to make the purchase - I've got a choice between 2 now. Decided on the LG I think - it comes in 2 different specs:

    I can have a T2130 CPU with an ATI 2300 128mb
    or
T5700 CPU with the Xpress 1250 - but it shares the system memory.

    Leaning towards the T5700...

    Any suggestions? Thanks once more.

Re: Portable laptop for photo editing

    Hi again,

Sorry... but I've scrapped the LG. I decided that I couldn't live with the gfx leeching off the system RAM and the fact that it would only take 3gb RAM was the final straw. Shame because it was really nicely built and was just a bit different - and the salespeople were a lot less pushy.

So how about this one - final choice I think, just looking for confirmation:

    Dell Inspiron 1420
    Blue (oooh!)
    T5750 (2ghz)
    4gb RAM
    nVidia GeForce 8400M GS, 128 MB GDDR3
160 GB, 5400 RPM, 8 MB Cache (Western Digital Corp.)
DVD+-RW/DL (Optiarc, a joint venture of Sony Corp. and NEC Inc.)
14.1” Antiglare LCD with 1280x800 pixel resolution (Chi Mei Optronics)
    Intel Next Generation Wireless-N 4965 802.11A/B/G,
    Vista Home Premium OEM
    1 year international warranty
    550 GPB

Thanks once more for all of your help

Re: Portable laptop for photo editing

Just to let everyone know that I've been using the above Dell for a week now and I like it a lot I can see myself having to stick a new HDD in fairly soon, and it's a shame they didn't have the upgraded screen available for 200RMB extra, but I'm very pleased - general performance seems fine and I think that RAW files are going to go as smoothly as they could on a laptop without spending mega-money...

    Cheers again for help!
