Dell 7800GTX

Hi.

I have been offered a Dell 7800GTX for my second system. I am in two minds on wether to get a normal one or this one, they are around the same price.

Are these Dell models any better or worse than the referance model? this particu;ar one is a X8764.

I have looked on google but not had much joy. I am well up to scratch on Nvidia cards but have no idea when it comes to ATI. I am looking at a Gecube HD 3850 Pro 512MB. What Nvidia card is this equivilant to? 8800? 8600? GT GS? or better / Worse?

The system is only a small core2duo 2 gig ram in a lan box so size is important. it will be mainly used as a media center but when my mate comes round it will be moved upstairs for LAN games.

Yeah should be a fair bit better and can be found for £50 in the bargain section.

Don't dell sometimes have stupidly long versions of graphics cards though? or perhaps they are in a strange caddy.

those are just used by dell so they can keep them in the slot during transport. they can easily be removed
