Re: Abit IP-35 pro, max FSB?

I had to turn µGuru off coz it caused a number of weird problems that then disappeared. I uninstalled the software and disabled it in Device Manager. Doesn't affect everyone and I have no idea why it sometimes goes rogue, but it deffo does.

I'll try that then tommorow, and pray that it works. But how does disabling software fix something in the BIOS?

Re: Abit IP-35 pro, max FSB?

it can't - uGuru is hardware & you can't disable it.
The software is merely an alternative (& in many cases somewhat more convenient) way of accessing the hardware rather than via the BIOS.

If the software is malfunctioning somehow though it could be preventing the hardware operating correctly if it has control over it, surely......?

Re: Abit IP-35 pro, max FSB?

    hello,

Would it help if I posted about the bios issue in the Abit forum instead?

About, my FSB problems, I did some testing yesterday, and these were the settings I used:

    FSB-400
FSB: DRAM- 1:1.25 (memory at DDR-1000)
    Cpu multiplier- x8 (3.2GHz)

    1.36V Vcore
    2.1V DDR
    1.38V MCH

All other voltages at stock setting.

At these settings, the system was stable for about one hour in Orthos, or more, I'm not sure. I'd left the system to run orthos, and when I came back I found the system had just reset itself. It's stable in IntelBurn test. I think the stability is counting on the MCH voltage more than anything else. At 1.33V, it's unstable in orthos. It fails after about 10 minutes I think. I'll try upping the voltage to 1.41V to see if I can have it stable for at least a few hours in Orthos.

    Do these settings sound OK?

    Thanks!

Re: Abit IP-35 pro, max FSB?

You might just need higher vCore too..... with 4x1GB sticks of RAM I'd be using more vMCH, you can take that quite high without worrying, try up to about 1.5v if needs be. I thought that RAM needed 2.2v? Are you doing Orthos Blend or Small FFTs?

Re: Abit IP-35 pro, max FSB?

    hello,

GSte, the label on the RAM says it's rated to run at 2.1V, and this is confirmed by the corsair support forums. I'm using Orthos blend.

Re: Abit IP-35 pro, max FSB?

Fair enough, my version of the Dominator needs 2.2v, thought it was worth checking.

Try small FFTs and see if it still fails, if it does you know it's more vCore that's needed.

Keep upping that vMCH too and see if it helps.
