If say, I have a a couple of games running, each able to utilise two cores each, would I be able to play and switch seemlessly between them? (Assuming enough ram etc) as if they ran on separate cores?

richieuk,
Yes i suppose you would be able to but it depends on how cpu demanding the game is, for example running 2 instances of crysis (i'm not sure if this is possible) would be very demanding and would be very laggy. However for less demanding games you probably could considering you had a good amount of RAM a good Graphics card etc.
Also flipping between games when they are at full screen can be a hassle because some games will take a while before the "minimize" and some games will refuse to run after being minimized and will remain as a black box. Flipping "Seamlessly" as you put it would most probably not be possible as their may be a few minor irregularities" when switching between the games.
Hope this helped,

richieuk,
yes i suppose you could, I often minimize games so i can look at a walkthrough if i get stuck and i can't remember having any problems doing that with COD4.
I have a Q6600 @ 3Ghz and i am constantly astounded at the power that it delivers and the fact that it is almost never running at full capacity (unless i am stress testing). While running COD4 it was at about 36% so i am pretty sure that running 2 instances of it would be ok.
Is this just a random question you want to know about or are you planning to run two games at a time?
Hope this helps,

More to do with running server for match or monitorng from a HLTV type thing etc without having my laptop turned on. Either way requires 2 game nstances, but probs easier on DC lappy

Remember they will both be reading from the same HDD, which could hinder performance.
