    Re: Another Build

Looks fine. How about a nice quiet aftermarket cooler and perhaps an antec solo just to make the thing as silent as can be since balls out performance probably isn't the main objective here.

    Re: Another Build

Dad doesn't like the look of the Antec Solo, so I have changed it to a Centruion 534 with a black Aluminium Bezel (only £46 on Ebuyer), thanks for the feedback.

Have ordered the case, PSU, HDD, Card reader and Vista from Ebuyer last night as this was a £22 saving over using Scan. Will order the rest from Scan this week, although disapointed that the passive 9500gt in the £40-45 range aren't in stock yet, may have to go for a ATI 3850 instead, really wanted to get him a Passive cooled decent card for under £50.

Was thinking of leaving my options open on the cooler until after the build is complete, as plan to see how loud the stock one is first.

What would be a nice cooler if he ends up wanting one, the Zigmatek one?

Would like some OC potential but quietness is the first priority

will you be overclocking the system?
just wondering why you might be getting the q6600 instead of something like a.. E7200

    looks like it to me.

Looks like a decent setup and in my opinion should allow your dad to everything he wants just fine.

My dad wants a Quad basically. He can afford it so why not. I did suggest a E7200 but he wants a fairly high spec machine and I have tried to put a component list together which is a bit better than he needs but not overly so (hence no P45 board, high end card or modular PSU)

I am also suggesting an overclock but probably after the machine has been up and running for a while if he feels he wants a bit more responsiveness. Bear in mind his current machine is a 1ghz AMD single core with 512mb RAM running XP.

    Re: Another Build

Case came today, Coolermaster Centurion 534 with black bezel, it looks really very nice, much better than the web picture. Has rear and side 120mm fans, moved the side panel fan to the front as I think it'll do a better job there and be quieter. Was only £46 from Ebuyer (£56 on Scan).

Went on Scan today to get the Mobo, CPU & RAM and the Zigmatek 120mm cooler was on special for £15! so snapped one up. I am now very jealous as my crappy little Dell case wouldn't fit this thing in and all I can now hear is the whine of the stock cooler

Any way most parts will be here by Friday so should be messing with the BIOS (fingers crossed) over the weekend, just hoping with such a new mobo that it won't have any RAM compatibility probs with Corsair 2x2gb PC6400.
