I'm on a dual core still and cannot warrent a new upgrade at the momement guess I have another two years to wait lol.
< Less than £300
between £300 to £600
between £600 to £1000
Oh God Don't ask!!
I'm on a dual core still and cannot warrent a new upgrade at the momement guess I have another two years to wait lol.
up to £500, cant justofy spending huge amounts of money, current build cost me £500, last buildaround £400-450, but i keep computers for at least 4 years, so its work out well financially.
way too much... my current rig cost me 800 when i bought it... between now and then the amount of upgrades i have done... monitor... keyboard... mouse... tv cards... fans... i dont even wanna think how much... now i'm depressed lol
My old comps move down through the family so they get an upgrade when I do lol.
can people forsee the price of componenets coming down significantly if I was to wait until xmas say?
If you are looking at building a computer or buying components unless you waiting on a actual new component to come out you will end up waiting for ever prices always fall the speed really depends on the development cycle the manufacturers are in. IE new family of gfx cards come out old ones drop very quickly end of cycle price drop is normally slower.
So yes prices will fall but for a set level of performance price remains relatively steady unless a manufacturer makes a large step like 8800 gtx or the newer 4800 where for a given price the performance is vastly better. Both of these are at opposite ends of the spectrum the 8800 was just bloody amazing despite the price and 4800 performance for the price.
I am sure this is really drivel....

I`ve just spent 200 quid on parts for my HTPC
SO thats a pc that wont ber playing games or anything just playing back films and recording stuff rofl
I budget (using that loosely) around £1000-2000 per year for upgrades to my main PC. I rarely use hardware for more than 18 months and aim to replace the GFX every 12 months (if there's something better). On the flip side, I use my PC a lot, don't have to pay VAT and deduct everything from tax which helps justify the regular upgrades .
Apparently (according to the scan order I just placed) I spend about £750...Good job I already had a decent graphics card....
