Reflashing BIOS, does it get rid of profiles?

I'm about to try a little bit of overclocking on my system. The last time something went wrong with my system, I had to reflash the bios using the cool little switch on the back of my motherboard. However, this wiped all the settings and I had no idea how to fix it. Scan fixed this problem for me, and saved the settings as a profile. My question is, if I end up having to reflash the bios, will it get rid of the profiles as well as the settings?

I have this motherboard as well (that switch is handy!). Unfortunately, I haven't updated the BIOS since setting up my profiles, so I don't know. I'd be quite interested in knowing, though.

can you save the profiles to a usb stick like you can with asus ?

I didn't lose them when I updated my BIOS, but there is a good chance that the CMOS may be reset.
Quite a few of the .bat files that are included with non-Windows based flashing will have the switch in there to reset all values to default, its often "/cc". You could remove this if its there - although keep in mind that it may be there for a reason (For example, the BIOS has changed the way it has stored data in the CMOS, meaning the current data would be invalid).

Also its worth noting that the switch at the back does not flash the BIOS, it simple resets the CMOS (the same as the /cc switch above when flashing).
In all honesty though, you should just go through are record all the settings down if you don't understand them. It will only take a few mins and is good practice....well that and you really should learn what they do

Profiles shouldn't be lost however it's possible that an old profile may not work with a new BIOS if there have been changes to internal timings etc.

As agent said, the OP didn't reflash the bios, he only cleared the CMOS - where all the configuration settings are kept - so not surprisingy, all the settings were lost. If the profile is a separate file with the CMS settings saved, the reflashing the BIOS wouldn't clear that - and if the CMOS was cleared again, the system should boot using default settings, and the profile could then be reloaded.

Out of interest, what is the difference between reflashing the bios and clearing the CMOS?

Clearing CMOS basically resets the BIOS settings to a default value.
Reflashing the BIOS involves replacing that version of the BIOS with the same version (sometimes you do this if you think that the BIOS has been corrupted or didn't take properly in the first place)
Flashing the BIOS involves replacing the existing BIOS version with another (that may have fixes,different options, different values etc.).
