    MP3 Player Recommendations?

    No Ipods please.

I am looking for a cheap but cheerful MP3 player to use in the garden and out and about.

    My preferences are...

    - Has to be 110% Vista compatible. No searching the net for solutions after I buy it.

    - No drivers, plug and play USB style.. or if it has to have drivers, good ones that aren't ****

    - A screen of some sort

    - 1gb to 4gb (or whatever I can find for best value)

    - under £25 if possible

    Cheers.

4GB is probably pushing it for under £25, but you should be able to get 2GB no problem. You probably just want one of the really basic old style ones that are literally like a USB pen.

If brand isn't an issue get one like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CN-Memory-2G...295538&sr=1-13

They're reasonably reliable and will do you for what you want - and are cheap to replace if sat on or stolen!

    Here's a Sansa as well http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Sans...295771&sr=1-47

    Put rockbox on it too

It needs to be a Sansa c2xx series for rockbox. Even then it needs to be a v1 IIRC. The e2xx series work too I think but they're probably out of your price range. Info on the rockbox site.

I would certainly recommend a c240 or c250, I have the c240 with rockbox on and it's been great for the price. Micro SD slot in case you need extra memory too. The only downside is it may be a bit of a gamble whether you get a v1 or a v2.
