    Red face Ittts upgrade timeeeeee

    Basically need
    MOBO
    CPU
    RAM

will be running it with a 8800GT
    750W FSP
    Samsung 500Gb spinpoint

    Budget £150-£200

I havent a clue about whats current, but am upgrading from a S939 system. Slight preferance for an Nvidia based mobo as im used to their intergrated CPU/GPU overclocking utility.

    Cheers

    Jon

There are really any decent Nvidia boards around at the moment and overclocking intels is very simple really

Is it strictly for gaming, or do you fold.. video encode etc.. ?

If it were for gaming I'd probably get

    THe new E5200 C2D ~£55
    4GB PC6400 RAM ~£50
    Asus P5Q-E or Abit IP-35 PRO ~ £95 or ~£85

You could get a cheaper motherboard and stick a decent cooler in there too, or just go for 2GB of RAM

    Cheaper motherboards would be
    P5Q- PRO
    DFI P35's , either P35-T2RS ~£75 or blood iron ~ £70
    Gigabyte's boards (although I'm not a fan)

That chip should be a very healthy overclocker and the lower cache won't impact gaming too much at higher resolutions where graphics count for more anyway.

Just games and photoshop, although a bit of HD video later on, I plan to get a Nikon D90 its only 720p.
Happy to dump the nvidia board.
Not that keen on gigabyte either, mate fell foul of the way they do bios upgrades, so his board was crippled.
Have used ASUS in the past without any problems, and got good bios updates.
