WD6400AAKS vs Samsung HD642JJ
I'm sorry if this has been covered to death
but i'm still undecided which to go for and would like some views on these HDD's
TBH i'm sure they are very close in performance terms and that i would see very little differnce in both
but would like to hear from anyone who has these drives and how they feel about them
maybe even a HD Tach score would be nice
http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public...request=HdTach <------- here
my apologies if third party site posting isnt allowed
also if the WD has 2x320 platters = 604GB
how has the Samsung 2x334 platters = 640GB ?
Re: WD6400AAKS vs Samsung HD642JJ
I was in the same situation as you after searching some sites I found that Samsung drives are not as good as Western Digital when it comes to NCQ implimenation but apart from that they are very similar both fast and quite, the Seagate drives are apparantly the best at doing NCQ. In the end I bought the Seagate 640gb 32mb cache from Dabs.
Re: WD6400AAKS vs Samsung HD642JJ
Sry for the basic question and i know google is my friend but sometimes it's confusing looking at lots of info
and can be summed up easily in laymans terms usually
but what is NCQ and the benefits
(NCQ is native command queing)
Sry ignore this i've wiki'ed it and it has a simple stupid guide which was helpful
Re: WD6400AAKS vs Samsung HD642JJ
I'm pretty sure the AAKSs are the models that don't have NCQ
