    Re: Where should I upgrade?

nope they are all new and not going anywhere for a while.

There might be 55nm versions of the 260/280 GTX coming though.

    Re: Where should I upgrade?

I would get the best graphics card I could afford...why not a 280? and has nobody mentioned the 4870?!?!
You haven't stated whether you want to play in dx10 (vista)..My 8800gt has started to struggle with (dx9) games like grid, at 1650x1080 on high settings so; the more power the better...

    Re: Where should I upgrade?

Because those cards are a waste of money below 1920 x 1200 and with new drivers (for the nvidia) I'm not so sure the HD4870 is much better than the 260GTX anymore, especially with it being £165 now. Both good cards, but both wasted at 1680 x 1050 really.

    Re: Where should I upgrade?

Personally, I'm an nvidia guy too.....I wouldnt say these cards are wasted....If you want to play with all the settings up without any interruptions that kind of resolution will push most cards...Have a little headroom, if you start pushing things like the physx hardware it will pay off...

What did you want to spend here? cos the 260 is looking pretty tempting to me i have to admit

    Re: Where should I upgrade?

I agree it's tempting even for me, but I know my card does a fair job right now, normally high enough settings so I can't notice the difference. That way I can see what 2009 brings without thinking I've wasted my money on something that will lose it's value very quickly.

    Re: Where should I upgrade?

Since he already appears to have 4GB that would make pretty much no noticable difference, especially when not overclocking. PC6400 will run a Q6600 @ 3.6GHz using a 1:1 divider. OK you can use other dividers to get the best of your RAM but it won't make anywhere near enough of a difference to warranty the purchase imo.

I am thinking of upgrading my Graphics card. Don't want to spend more than £100 though!
