    30" Monitor

Hi all, I am putting together a new pc and would love to get 30" monitor. My problem comes from how far away I will be sitting from the screen. I will only be about 20" - 24" maybe even closer depending on what shape the stand etc is. SO my question goes out to those that already have on how close do you all sit to the beasts. At a LAN this time last year I got to play at one but did not really notice how close I was to it was just to busy drooling!!

    Thanks in advance

    Poo

p.s. thought I had posted this in the gfx and monitor section sorry!!

    Re: 30" Monitor

I sit with mine about 30" away. The dot-pitch on 30" monitors is small, so reading text at native resolution becomes a bit of a strain for me if it's further than that.

Gaming wise, having it at about 30" seems pretty good. I would have thought 20" might be a bit overwhelming... plus I'd prepare to get hot - you can really feel the heat emitted from the screen at close range!

    Re: 30" Monitor

Thanks for the fast reply. That is my main concern when sitting so close I will not be able to actually see the whole thing.

May need to stick with 24". Due to go back to same LAN will give another go at said 30" dell monitor at different distances and pay attention this time.

    Cheers

    Re: 30" Monitor

It all depends on what your doing and what you prefer.

When I got my 3007, it took me a good few weeks to adjust to it (couple of times I found myself so close my nose was almost touching the screen, just reading something in the corner of the screen!)......Although I'd hate to be without it now.

    Re: 30" Monitor

You could look at the Dell 2709W... That's what I went with after deciding a 30" was just too big! Same resolution as a 24", 1920 x 1200, just bigger pixels.

    I'm happy with it

OOO now never thought of that 2! LMAO I can imagine swmbo reaction to that!!!

"there you go dear here is a nice 19" ws" after picking self off floor has to move computer room around to get 2 27" monitors in

I will need to measure how wide my desk is too see if i can actually fit 2 in. In saying that I only use that machine for gaming on so she would want one of them.

Seriously though I have never actually considered moving up size from 24" for 1920 x res. Just had the thought in my head to go for 2560 x res.

    Thanks again
