    Motherboard upgrade advice.

Hi, go easy on me, first post!

I'm currently looking to upgrade my system, and I am looking for a good overclocking S775 motherboard, but not sure which direction to look.

    I currently have:

Core2Duo E6300 (will be next upgrade, prob to a core2quad at some point)
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400CAS 4-4-4-12, DHX
    Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler
    Geforce 7900GS 256MB (I'm not a gamer)
    Antec 900 case
    Tagan 700w PSU
Several hard drives and optical drives.
    Vista HP x64

    Budget is around £100ish

    Board must have:

at least 6 SATA's, and they need to be compatable with ODD's
    1 IDE port
    Optical SPDIF out.
    In stock at Scan

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved

Looks to me, that the Asus P5Q Pro should be the thing you're looking for ^^
Good board, many people recommend it.

    Welcome to the forums

If I had £100 to spend on yet "another" S775 motherboard (had too many so far) it would also be the ASUS P5Q Pro. Solid choice IMO, and you'll still have some moolah to spare!

    Re: Motherboard upgrade advice.

Thanks for the input so far.

Just a quick question, would it be worth spending a little more on something (like an X38 board), or is my budget about the level it needs to be?

    Re: Motherboard upgrade advice.

there wouldn't be much point as the p5q is one of the best motherboards out there or even the old p5k is still pretty good

    Re: Motherboard upgrade advice.

There's absolutely no point on getting the X38/48 unless you are honestly planning on having Crossfired 4850s or 4870s at some point.
