    Re: Small desktop for uni?

Just in case you haven't seen them here are a few other cases you might consider

    Silverstone Sugo-F series

    http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=798106
Available in black as well for a bit more money

Only two issues with them really is that they only have 80mm fans rather than a 120mm, which can be a fair bit quieter and the PSU sits over the CPU so cooler size is limited.

also the SG03 or SG04 are both small and have 120mm fans but are towers rather than cubes and still have the cpu cooler issue.

If you fancy something a bit more funky then the Aerocool M40 is possibly up your street it has a hinged top section, again only 80mm fans though.

    http://www.thecoolingshop.com/produc...oducts_id=2752

Or the is the Lian Li PC-V350B

    http://www.xcase.co.uk/p/520071/pc-v...delivery-.html

Or if your feeling really flush the NZXT Rouge

    http://www.xcase.co.uk/p/452494/nzxt...blackblue.html

Oh and that DFI board looks sweet!

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

Careful with X-Case prices, they are ex VAT and del.

The aero cool does you 80mm's yeah but, 3 at the back and the front fan is a 120mm. So you can get a lot of air flow going just with quiet fans

You also have a bit more room for a reasonable HSF, I'm not entirely sure but the mini ninja may fit..

The SUGO-F is alright but I hate the thought of such little cooling in them. Lots of people have them though and they seem to work well enough.

But in all honesty I was here once before, weighing up all the cube cases.. In the end I knew the TJ08 or Antec NSK3480 was the better bet.

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

Yeah i'm leaning more to the Silverstone mainly on aesthetics, and partially because it seems to have good cooling options (looks like there's easily room to watercool if i ever wanted to).

It'd be nice if it was aluminium all over instead of just the front, but hey.

    http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cust...productid=5506

That is pretty tempting though ^

Anyone know when silverstone goes on today only?

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

Yeah that was originally what I was going to get, but decided that it was just too much to spend (when my TJ08 was only £40) and since I needed onboard so uATX was necessary.

The only good reason to get that lian li is if you want the same size as the TJ08 but full ATX, or aluminium all over as it certainly looks nice but you barely notice it on the TJ08 in the flesh, it looks really nice.

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

That case will take a full ATX board which will possibly have a better layout, the DFI full atx board is only £1 more and with the first 16x PCIe slot being further from the CPU you can potentially have more choice in cooler orientation and size.

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

Right well it's all sorted now

Amazing though, ebuyer's free delivery is arriving tomorrow apparently, and as they use City-Link too - it should all be in one nice (and god damned heavy) lot.

I'll take some pics when it's done!

I want to improve my cable management

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

    Here we go:

Generally pretty pleased with that (so long as the 4 pin mobo connector is fine being routed down the back)

Now to just sort this worrying problem of no task manager, and to get this overclocking started!

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

    Silverstone TJ08b uATX case
    Enermax 425W Modu82+ modular PSU
    DFI LANPARTY JR P45-T2RS motherboard
    2GB Corsair PC6400 XMS2 DDR2
1.8Ghz E2160 "Pentium" Dual Core (to be overclocked)
    Scythe Mine Cooler
    640GB Western Digital AAKS
    512mb 8800GT Palit
    OEM DVD RW Drive

Swapped the stock fans to my zen's akasa ones, since it seemed stupid having to use a whole extra psu cable (already tight for space) just for the fans. So they're now just running off the mobo fan headers

And thanks for all your help guys!

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

That'll last you a long time at uni Plenty of room for CPU and GPU upgrades which is all it may want in a couple of years.

    Re: Small desktop for uni?

I'll probably get a new GPU at christmas, i like the GT, but the Palit for some absurd reason doesn't have a temperature sensor - result is that the fan is at full tilt all the time. And if i can get a quad for under 80 then that'd be swimming.

Ironic since the majority of the stuff in that case is renowned for being pretty quiet.
