For my new PC...

Okay, PC is ready to get picked up (from my dad's work so he's only going to pick it up when he needs to go there >_<) but ah well, I can live with that =p

Thing is, when it gets here, I need to put all stuff together of course, so I have a few questions and want to hear some opinions, hence when you're getting a new PC, you don't wanna use your old lame ass stuff with it =p

First question, what things to get or to remember when putting the parts together? The only thing I have atm is;
- Arctic Silver 5
Now question is, when putting everything in the case, something that would be needed? Can I use normal Tie Raps (hope I spell it right) for the cables in the case?
Anything else I should get, or not forget to do!

Second question is, CPU cooler.
I'm not an 'overclocker', I haven't OC'ed anything in my life before, I might want to give it a try though. I'm just wondering, if I wish to OC for example my CPU, will I need to get a new cooler?
I'm not buying this new PC to OC, I'm getting the E8400 3.0Ghz, if I do want to try to OC it, I think 3.6Ghz would be a nice goal for my first try... So question is, is it worth getting a new cooler for that? Or is that possible with a stock cooler aswell? I'll be getting the AS5 either way, won't use the stock paste.
If I do need a new cooler, I have a small list to choose from though, I prefer to get it from this shop. (it's a Dutch site, hope it's understandable)
Budget for the Cooler isn't to much, I prefer to keep it a little cheap, I won't be OC'ing that much either way =p

My third question is, new mouse!
I was looking at the Logitech MX518 mouse, seemed like a good mouse, seemed to have all I needed, even a little more. Any comments on that one?

If needed, here's the specs of the new PC;
Asus P5Q Pro
Asus GeForce ENGTX260
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Chipset Boxed
Corsair 4GB Kit, 240pin DIMM, 4-4-4-12, PC2-6400
Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB
Antec Three Hundred + 1 Extra Case fan
Corsair HX520W Power Supply
Samsung SyncMaster 2043BW Monitor

Thanks in advance ^^

yes, normal ties wraps are fine

if you are going to overclock then you would want a decent cooler TBH, the stock cooler is designed to 'cope' with the stock speeds

some good aftermarket coolers are: xigamatek s1283, scythe mine, TRUE and scythe ninja

when building, put the processor, ram, heatsink on the motherboard before putting it in the case (it helps, as then you don't have to try and move around within the tight confines)

logitech is a great make with great support, and TBH i have only heard good things about them recently...

also, make sure to keep things nice and tidy in the case (i.e. keep cables nicely tucked away) as this will help airflow and possibly reduce temperatures

well if he doesn't want to spend on a decent cooler but overclock he'll have to face the higher core temps

If you aren't buying the pc to oc then don't get a cooler then. No point getting a crappy one for lets say £14 when it gives little or no better performance than the stock cooler whereas you could have spend £25 and got a decent cooler etc.

It's possible to OC with the stock cooler if it keeps the cpu cool enough.

But anyway you said it yourself

I'd say don't get a crap cooler because you're still unsure if you're gonna oc. Get a decent one then you'll have lower temps then you can choose whether to oc in the future.

Then don't OC it and stick with your stock cooler for now.

There isn't really any point in overclocking yet because you'll basically just lower the lifespan of the CPU and void the warranty. It's plenty fast enough at the moment anyways.

Re: For my new PC...

Ok thanks for the replies so far ^^

Just small question, if I'd use the stock cooler to OC the CPU to 3.6Ghz, howmuch increase in temperature would I get by doing so? What's the usual avarage of temperature a CPU (Dual core) runs on?

I guess I'll stick to the stock cooler for now anyhow, if I ever wish to OC a lot in future, I'll buy a good aftermarket cooler ^^
