    triple rad mounting

whats the best way to mount a triple 120 rad in a Silverstone TJ07?
I was think abot cutting up the 2 HDD holders and making brackets out of them, then drilling a couple of holes in the base of the case and bolting the whole lot together.
    Any other ideas??

most people cut the rad dimensions in the roof of the case and mount it there.

    Re: triple rad mounting

My dual rad stays in place in my TJ07 with no addiotnal support needed thankfully (the fans really help the width). The pipes and weight of the water hold it in place nicely. Having said that, I want to move to a triple one when I have the money too.

There are various brackets that you can get to fit the rads. Some are like legs (think of them being L shaped and fitting on the bottom), others fit around the rad if its lying down, some people velcro them down
I've even seen PCI backplates bend and cutup to make large L backets - you may need to mod the case for these though.

"Watercooled TJ07" throws up loads of results in Google - always worth seeing how others have done it

In a TJ07 or just in general?

If you've seen a TJ07 like this, you got a link mate, would love to see it

    Re: triple rad mounting

Oh yeah it is an extreme way of doing it
That's 1 way of doing it but IIRC the TJ07 has like a basement where air can pass from one side to another? A common setup is to mount the rad there sideways and have it suck in air and blow it out the other side.

    Re: triple rad mounting

only just got the case and dont wanna start cutting the top open just yet, been looking around and have seen the idea of using velcro to hold down the triple rad in the lower chamber.

thats what they do, forgot about the velcro. I think the shell of the tj07 is one continuous piece of aluminium so it could be replaced if Silverstone can sell replacement parts but yes my first post wasn't thought through clearly
But I saw you were thinking of cutting stuff thats why I mentioned it

Yeah the TJ07 has a huge basement that's pretty much *made* for watercooling
Having a TJ07 air cooled is Sin

Very impressive work he's done there!

The velcro can really help cut vibrations though and help when moving the case small distances.
Good velcro is *strong* and can easily hold it in place upside down (not that I would recommend it )

Have used it a few times myself and its always been very effective

    Re: triple rad mounting

A triple rad in the bottom is the generally accepted mounting method. You can make custom mounts to hold it in place or some good heavy duty velcro from Halfords or the like will be fine.

You may need to remove the HDD trays though, so be prepared to mount them in the 5 1/4" bays

    Re: triple rad mounting

yeah I have just took out the HDD trays, but I also bought the matching 5 1/4" HDD holder so that aint a prob, just gonna get the frill out and drill some holes in the base for the pump,
One other thing, ive got a Acrylic Reservoir how tight should the fittings be? should i do them up with a spanner or just hand tight?

I used a spanner but I held it closest to the center of rotation so I couldn't apply alot of torque. I've got the same res and it's not leaking. You could also get a cloth or something and wrap it round your hand then tighten it tightly (so that your hands dont hurt).

    Re: triple rad mounting

assuming your using BSPP (G1/4) fittings all you need to do is compress the O-ring so hand tight is enough I tend to go for a quarter turn with a spanner more though just for piece of mind.
