Is it time to bury the Audigy 2 ?

Odd title I know, and the card is not dead, but decided to put this back in my PC as the onboard realtek is driving me insane. Popped over to creative website to download a driver for the Audigy 2 ZS only to find or it would appear that the drivers only work with Vista 32 bit.

Unless there is some kind of 3rd party driver out there ??

I run Vista 64 these days, so am wondering if I would be better off selling the Audigy 2 card and getting something more up to date, and if so whats out there thats decent these days, haven't really kept on top of the soundcard market at all in recent years.

Well I was hoping that putting the Audigy 2 in my PC would fix the problem, but ti's still the same.

Anytime I scroll a window in IE, firefox or even closing and opening other windows the music that I've got playing through winamp distorts or skips. Doesn't happwn in any games but it's a very frustrating problem.

Oh and even moving the mouse seems to do it too.

i had the same problem in vista 64 with winamp. you can either change to the wave out option in outputs in the options or use the openal plug-in which is what im using

I have seen nothing but tales of woe with Vista and creative cards..........After being a big creative advocate for a while, I kicked my XFi Fatality into touch recently and bought an Asus Xonar....

It just works. No messing, no fuss. Does exactly what it says it does, has ALL the features it claims to have (regardless of whether you run Xp or Vista, 32 or 64 bit etc)

It does use a little more CPU time then the creative card though, although in the multi-core age, I do not find this a problem in the slightest! Also, the Xonar sounds exceptionally good, certainly better then the creative card.

I'm leaning to one of those cards, but asI said I get exactly the same problem when using onboard realtek card also. Get paid this weeks o will grab one laong with an optical drive, I lost my temper with my PC a second ago and kicked the front in, bending one of the drive bay covers in the process.

Oddly enough the problem isn't there in Media Player.
