I can't max it out, but I can get it fairly high in DX10 mode at 1680x1050 and get about 25FPS in good areas, dropping dramatically at major airports.

It is. I've got it and have my setting on medium high or medium ~ and have it locked at 17fps (which i'm happy with as i can't tell a difference) which runs smoothly.

    Get an 8800GT?

Reasonably cheap these days, and pretty powerful!

However, if you're going to run it on dual monitors

    Re: MS Flt.Sim X

Considering I had a roughly equivalent PC to yours until recently which could barely play it, I'd say yes.

    Re: MS Flt.Sim X

It is way more demanding than Crysis, or at least it was when I played it last, earlier in the year. I could run Crysis on my PC (in my specs to the left) on maximum very high settings, with everything maxed, and with my normal resolution of 1680x1050, and I could even run it in DX10 like that and it was still playable. The frame rate never went below about 21fps which is playable.

Flight Simulator X however... yikes. It ran like treacle on my PC, even with a lot of the settings lowered. I also saw a thing on YouTube where some guy had a Quad Core Extreme CPU and a pair of 8800GTX Ultras in SLI, and the game still went into single digit frame rate when he flew over a city or something. It's crazy. They give you a lot of options though. You can change dozens more things than you can in most games, so it at least gives you the freedom to tweak stuff. I just found it annoying to play because it really screwed up my immersion and the reality of it all when it kept turning in to a slide show. And to avoid it going slow like that, I had to lower the settings so far that it looks really ugly.

There was also a bug with nVidia cards (discussed on this forum somewhere), and that made things look ugly too. I'm not sure if that was ever fixed. I have been tempted to install this game again, but there is something due this year which I'm way more excited about:
