Slimline laptop cd/dvd USB enclosures?
I recently got a nice asus eeepc 901 and was looking for a cheap exturnal usb dvd rom that doen't need seperate power, so I can install off of cd's and watch cdr/dvd and such.
And I came across this on ebay.
It's an enclosure for a slim dvd/cd, the sort that come from laptops, I could use my drive out of my old compaq armarda or pinch one out of the stock of dead laptops we have at work so no problems there.
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these
Or know where to get them? other than a Honkong ebay seller.

If you're after small, they don't get much smaller than the LG GSA-E50L.. It's not an enclosure though -- it's a complete USB2 DVD rewriter with Lightscribe. It'll also burn at full speed when powered by the USB port, and generally works pretty well for a portable.
I bought one to go with my Thinkpad, then started using it on the 1000H when I got that. Not a single problem, feels quite solid too. The plastic covers tend to scratch quite easily though :(

Thanks but no thanks philpem, I don't need a dvd burner as that's what I have my dvdrw drive in my pc for ;) and I'm looking for a cheap option here not £50+
Actually now starting to look at just a 5.25" drive ide enclosuer now, yes it'll need a seperate power cable, but I've got a spare IDE dvd-rom kicking about and I could also swap the dvd for an old hard drive for backup. :undecided
