Is this baby really worth its price tag or is it just an over priced network card that i wont see much difference from when gaming?

i couldn't honestly tell you which coast they are from, and i don't care enough to look as i would have to go further than there wiki page - because last time i was there it had been taken down because they diddled with it to show there product in a "non-neutral" light
how out of character is that?

There are many very interesting and potentially useful things you can do with the KIller NIC.
However, for the vast majority of people, it's no better than on-board.
If you are primarily a gamer, or wouldn't know what to do with an embedded linux system on a NIC card, stay away.

It can be setup as a router and/or a hardware firewall. It can run bittorrent clients, certain VoIP programs, etc, solely on it's own hardware, without even needing to access the rest of your system (except through the linux console).
It's essentially a Linux PC with a 400MHz CPU, 64MB of ram, and a USB port. The are more potential uses for it than I can list.
And yes, it does reduced CPU utilization of network loads.
Anyway, I'm more aware of it's capabilities than most and I still wouldn't buy one. The minor advantage in performance is moot on most dual or quad core systems, I don't particularly need a lightweigth linux PC to take over my routing, firewall, or torrenting need, and I can think of better things to do with the money.
IMO, it's marketed to the wrong people. The additional performance in frame rate, and in ping, in games, is very minimal, but there are many linux and networking junkies who would love to have one.
