not bad, but with vapochill and pc4400, 7 out of 10 people overclock with air and 3200ram, which i think the oc will be 3.8 the most
Not bad at all!
Does anyone here actually have a Prescott?? Overclockers are doing the 2.8s for £110+VAT which is pretty reasonable.
I'm thinking of moving to watercooling (new Hydrocool 200 EX maybe, if Corsair comes out with a NB block, otherwise Koolance Exos I guess) and Prescott sure is a good way to justify that!
Trouble is that I'm not sure if my 6 month old Asus P4P800 will like it. Anyone got a Prescott in one of these? HardOCP say theirs didn't like it, but not sure if Asus had the latest BIOS out that adds Prescott support when they did their tests.
I'm thinking Prescott should be seriously good at SETI, with it's 1Mb L2. I've posted this in the Distributed Computing forum, so anyone in the know please post!
Prescott & SETI performance
Prescott's are v bad: there over-priced, Very little performance increase, longer pipelines means cheaper 4 intel to make a 'faster' chip. But means less processing power. Just pick up any comp magazine and it will say to not bother!
not bad....but not good
its because its the first 0.09 when AMD make one itll overclock well as itll have less heat and will go more
i think thats only because of the vapo and decent ram, its also an ES, unlocked
a normal one wudnt do half as good on air 3.6-3.8, same as old p4 i imagine, a mobile barton 2500 would cream it...

Oh, did I mention.....I like sheep.....
WWW.MrsBurley.CO.UK now updated
ppl have beat 4.3ghz with the older p4's....... so theres nothing great about that o/c... also the older p4's would probably be faster at same speed...
At the moment, totally depends on what you run on it - it's been shown to be very good at video encoding for example.
Certainly looks good value for money if you want a top SETI cruncher (and have a good method of cooling!) ...

Here's the important bit: Looks like the 1Mb cache really helps.
