P182 case price now to much?

Bought a P182 case from Scan 9 months ago for £78 for my son, now I want one for myself but it now costs nearly 20% more (£92.70) any ideas for a cheaper alternative?

    Thanks

Either get it from scan with a decal on, not sure if it is removable or if it'd ruin it.

Second hand one? I've got one, I'm not happy with anymore, I'd sell if you liked, around £65?

If you're feeling in a graphical mood maybe try:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=716009

    or

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=716008

Or perhaps your son would prefer one of these then you can use the standard one?

The Coolermaster CM-690 is a pretty good alternative at £65.

With the side fan moved to the bottom of the case it's very quiet and cool. Good cable management to (same principles as the P182. The drives might not be quite as quiet as they are in the P182 due to the rubber gromets, but I'm sure there is a work around if you find it particuarly annoying.

It used to be about £45 from Scan, why the huge jump in price?

Yeah it was amazing at that price. Problems sourcing the metals etc.. with the earthquakes affecting China so badly (I think).

Re: P182 case price now to much?

I imagine that since everywhere is charging more Coolermaster have increased the cost.

Or maybe the first few batches were sold at a loss or little profit to get interest and now they have come back to what the expected retail price should have been to start with.

Re: P182 case price now to much?

Steel prices have increased its getting near to 3x the price it was a few years ago
I surpose you also have to add increased fuel/shipping cost into the equation
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Re: P182 case price now to much?

I am lookingn to buy a new case and do realise from few threads i come across that prices for some of the cases or most of them have gone up significantly, that makes me feel like i need to buy one now before the price increases further!

To OP, sadly i dont know any cheaper alternative, sorry

Re: P182 case price now to much?

May go for the 3XS INVASION "Bunka" Skin version - a bit trendy for an old man!

Think I'll hold on for a couple of weeks and see if Scan or ebuyer have them on special.

I think theres a bit of rip-off Britain still working on stuff the manufacturers know will sell.

    Thanks for your input guys.

Re: P182 case price now to much?

    £ getting weaker guys....

Hardware has been pretty competitive with USD prices, but they will start getting comparatively more expensive now.

Cases use a significant amount of steel, global demand for all consumer electronics is falling and transportation costs are up. £92 looks pretty good.
