    soundcard problem!!!

    need some help here! for some time now when i listen to music or watch a dvd i get scratchy,choppy sound for a bit then it returns to normal,then a couple of seconds or minutes later it does the same again. im using a creative live 5.1 digital and the latest drivers i have tried uninstalling them and re-installing but i still get the same problem. any suggestions??

    If you are using an Abit NF7-S then there are known problems with the South bridge getting too hot, and making the sound go bad. I dont know if this is isolated to the onboard sound, or if the sound cards suffer from the same problem.

    Got this problem on the A7N8X-D V2.0 as well. I found moving DVD from Slave to Master sorted it.

    im using a abit at7-max2 this has onboard sound but ive disabled this via the bios but still seem to get the same problem

    oh sorry the chipset is via kt400 and vt8235

    Jester, try moving the card lower down on the PCI slots. I had an issue with a gigabyte board and the only PCI slot my old audigy would work in was slot 4.

    swapped it to a different pci slot away from graphics card and modem but still the same prob!!
