Overclocking my XP-M 2500+

Had a little try last night. Actually booted into windows at 12x200MHz but nothing was stable. Kept getting Dr Watson errors (whatever the hell they are!) in SETI, PiFast and SuperPI.

Got the following eq:

ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
Mobile Athlon XP2500+
2x256MB PNY PC3200

Am running with the following settings:

FSB: 200MHz
Multi: 12x
RAM: 100% FSB @ 7-3-3-3
Vcore: 1.6/7v (can't remember exactly)

Does anyone know if my mobo can handle an FSB of 200MHz properly? The manual and website say it does, but I'm sure my RAM can do it and I'm sure that the XP-M can do it as others with the exact same stepping are running at higher than 200MHz. The only thing I can think of is that I might not be giving it enough volts but I don't wanna cook it. It was nearly running at 50°C when on the above settings (possibly due to carp cooling).

Anyone have any thoughts on my experiment?

Whats your ram and chipset voltages and whats the standard ram timmings for your ram.

You'd have to wait till I get home from college tonight for definate answers to that lot. Haven't changed the ram voltage, I think the chip voltage is normally 1.4v and IIRC the standard RAM timings (the one's it selects from the SPD setting) are 8-4-4-2.5.

As I said though, I'll confirm that either tonight/tomorrow morning...

Been reading some of the comments on CPU City's site about this chip, and it seems that new chips need a burn-in period. Would this explain why my system crashed the other day at 12.5x180MHz and booted successfully last night at 12x200MHz?

12.5x180 isnt just over clocking your FSB, it'll also throw out your PCI and AGP clocks unless your board will let you lock them at 33/66...

Hmm, not sure if I can lock them. I'll have a little fiddle with the settings tonight.

If you cant lock them then that'll b why u failed to OC, if u can try and stick close to std FSB's 100/133/166/200 etc etc...

Should be locked by default on an nForce 2 board.
