Online suppliers who dont use Citylink
Hi,
Needing to buy some hardware soon, and the localish Eclipse Computers doesnt have most stuff in most the time. I've recently had some bad experiences with Citylink who I used via Ebuyer.com, so looking to avoid them altogether.
Any recommendations for suppliers who dont use Citylink?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Online suppliers who dont use Citylink
Specialtech say they use Interlink Express, I have used Specialtech but can not remember who delivered the parcel (as it happens Citylink here (Swindon) are reasonable) anyway here is the website http://www.specialtech.co.uk/
Not sure of any others sorry

I'm not sure, but I think Amtrak went bust earlier in the year.

yup they did, they died about 2 months or so ago, taking a hella load of packages with them and causing no end of problems for other companies trying to get them back from the receivers...

Netfold Limited t/a Amtrak went into administration on 22 August 2008 and I.Best & T.Lukic were appointed as joint administrators.

I'm not a big fan of them, but dabs appears to use a combination of Parcelforce/UPS/Home delivery network.

If you want better delivery and go with them then you're compromising on the CS
Could try Tekheads
CityLink is the main courier but you can choose RoyalMail or others if you want.
Re: Online suppliers who dont use Citylink
citylink pretty much dominate component sales.
not had any major issues with them tbh.
Re: Online suppliers who dont use Citylink
Surely your gonna be better off choosing a place based on prices and customer service. Then in the unlikely event Citylink do screw up atleast your safe in the knowledge the company you purchased from will actually help you resolve it.
Avoid Dabs like the plague atm.. I purchased a HD4670 from them, was secondhand and had bits missing. Fair enough they all send out 7day returns. They have no phone communication option whatsoever, online customer service is always busy and they're taking several days to answer emails all the time blaming in on Amtrack going bust (was their main carrier)... plenty of people need jobs, hire some temps for the customer service department!!!!!!!!!

Unlikely in your area perhaps. But in some areas, it's dire.

What do you need, I'll see what I can do

Can't comment on any other areas of the UK from a personel perspective, but used to manage the dispatch dept of a large mail order company and we had just as many problems with companies like FedEX as we did with Citylink. Maybe it comes down to the attitudes of the peeps at your local depo (Parcel Force guy once admitted they loved sword fighting with the cardboard tubes of posters we used to send LMAO), but from my experience its nationwide. People tend to remember bad expereinces and forget good ones, but how many parcels on average do they recieve in a year? Maybe a handfull? hardly provides a clear picture of the thousands sent/delivered daily. Only time I'll care about who's delivering my parcel is if someday one or more companies start offering more accurate times, 8am-6pm SUCKS!

I think that is what it comes down to, or on your driver. Barking Depot here and I've never had a problem over many deliveries and pickups :)
Although now my driver has changed deliveries come at 12-2pm instead of 9am sharp :angst:
Re: Online suppliers who dont use Citylink
Dabs didn't use citylink last time I used them, was a while ago though. Amazon don't either I think.
EDIT: ah, dabs used amtrack. Don't know who they use now then.
EDIT2: Yes I do: ParcelForce, Home Delivery Network, UPS and Royal Mail.

Novatech used Parcel Force to send me some stuff last week and today (Recieved at 8.45 exactly, same for last week, i like my driver :) ) I guess it depends how far away you live but both times orders arrived the next working day and that was on their free delivery.
