Question What's the fastest yet quiet(ish) mainstream hard drive?

I'm about to build a new PC and am fairly set on what to buy except the hard drive. I don't really need big storage capacity so this is what I'm happy to compromise on.

Currently I have a Maxtor 80Gb SATA DiamondMax9 which I could probably re-use but I'd like to get something faster and quieter. Price is a factor so I'm not just going to get a Velociraptor I'm tempted by a Samsung 750Gb F1 or possibly a WD 640Gb Blue (quieter than a Black I think but still fast).

Any better ideas? I guess if I went for a 320Gb single platter drive that would be theoretically faster??

The WD 640AAKS (Blue) is quiet and fast as is the equivalent Samsung F1 (both use 2x 320GB platters) the WD Green is quieter than the Blue but doesn't have quiet the same performance, I will however say that the Blue is far from noisy.

Not sure if it's "very quite", but it is very quiet

I've got one in my new box and you can't hear it specifically, even with heavy seeking. I've also been able to turn off the two 80mm fans next to it as it runs nice and cool.

Thanks guys. Sounds like you're agreeing with my initial thoughts so I'll probably just go for which ever of those two offer the best value per gb on the day that I buy (this weekend probably - once the HIS 4850 IceQ4 is in stock )
