MIA: Level 2 Cache
Hi all,
I've just installed a new heat sink (CoolerMaster Aero 7+) on my AXP 2500+ and replaced my old memory with some Corsair TWINX-3200LLPT. Now for some reason I've lost my L2 Cache. My computer is noticably slower.
I've checked in the BIOS and the L2 Cache is Enabled.
Any ideas what wrong?
Specs:
Asus A7N8X
Corsair TWINW-3200LLPT
AXP 2500+
Radeon 9800 Pro
Windows XP Home SP1
Cheers!

What software are you using to find out that its "missing" ?
If its memtest86 - dont worry about it, this often gets the cache wrong.
Try it in SANDRA ?
-
Also got similar prob. My old pc (k6-2 500) doesnt have any l2 cache while the mobo is suppsot to have 256k on the NB. It is VERY slow compared to what it used to be, and stability is also worse.. L2 is enabled in bios, but POST shows no cache
-
SANDRA and AIDA32 both show the L2 cache (I was using Memtest86).
Curious. If its not the 'missing' L2 cache... why is my system slower then before with better memory

Are the memory and system bus now asynchronous where preivously they were synchronous?
-
This is what I thought first. So I checked and they are synchronous
Memory timings are faster. Dual Channel mode is enabled. I can't think what is wrong :(

Resetting the BIOS via the jumper appears to of worked. Can't quite get my head around why that should make a difference. But it works :)
