Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro V2 thoughts for general purpose PC?

Hi,

I've searched around, and could only really find reviews of V1 of this fan, so I wondered if anyone here has any thoughts on V2? Is it easy to fit, and is the thermal compound it comes prefitted with (I think) enough to keep the processor cool, or should I invest in some separate compound? If it matters, the processor I'm currently looking at getting is the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ AM2.

Sorry -- forgot to add. I don't need it to be completely silent, but pretty quiet would be great (vague terms I know), so if anyone could point me to how well it performs in this area that would help.

Maybe worth a post in the Scan section, even the Arctic Cooling website doesn't mention a V2...

It does however say it comes with thermal paste pre-attached. So unless you want to move it around you won't need to buy any separately.

Looks good bang for buck, and combined with a case that vents out the rear it should keep things cool.

AFAIK its similar to the arctic 7 for the intel sockets. Its ok for the basic cpu and paste is fine as it is mx2(on intel for sure, 99% sure the same), had to have mine on low fan speed to not hear it but it does the job. The amd cpu's run hotter(right?) than intel core 2 one so with that in mind id recommend paying the extra for a better performance heatsink. The Xigmatek 963 is very good, about 10C cooler than my arctic(on load) and i cant hear it (on low again) the extra £4 is worth it http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=700897. I got mine on today only(weekend) for £11 but bought a bolt through kit for it at £3, not sure if its good for helping temps(dont make worse) but is so much easier and better for the mobo( this one http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...ing+the+cooler for the xigmatek).
