Samsung or Western Digital for 2.5" HDD upgrade?

i remember a few years ago that Samsung had a good reputation for reliability and silence, is that still so?

I want to put a 500gb in the newer 13" MBP

Re: Samsung or Western Digital for 2.5" HDD upgrade?

I have had good experience with Seagate drives in the laptops I have had, very quiet compared to the Hitachi Travelstars they replaced. I am not sure if this is still true of their most recent models, though. Might be worth going through a few reviews comparing 2.5" drives to see which one fits your needs best.

Assuming the WD drives are the same as the ones used in the external ones they sell, I think WD would be a fair choice as well.
