Finally managed to get my Q9550 stable (IBT x64) at 3.4Ghz with a 100% load temp of 63 degrees (max) using CoreTemp.
Did anyone achieve other results using q9550 with p5n-d mobo?

You could go higher with a better mobo, and heatsink. Nvidia chipsets aren't the best for overclocking.
Is this on stock or aftermarket heatsink?
Yeh the p5n-d isnt great at all, i have it and wish i didnt buy it personally as i have a e8400 crying to be overclocked and 1600fsb is the max no matter what(so its the mobo 99% sure).
Not bad for a quad core though :).
Yep I know this all too well, found out the hard way.
Aftermarket cooler, Big Typhoon 120 on lowest fan speed (quiet).
Hey moogle, what temps did you get on load?
I'm considering getting a new mobo since i can't crossfire with the current one, maybe will look into watercooling first.
Hi NewStuff,
I used to get 65c on load at 4GHz, but thats the core temps. The CPU overall temp hits 48c and those values were during the end of summer (end of August). That was under watercooling though so don't try it unless you've got a low VID like me , or if you've got an E0 stepping :P
You think?Quote:

I would not be happy with that overclock considering the price of that CPU.
(Those temps are too high aswell. No more than 55c would be better and easily achievable)
For the HUGE amountof users, 3.4ghz is very easy at good temps with a Q6600 :D
Yes its easy to get to that speed but i meant that most leave it at 3ghz to keep the life of it :P. Maybe cooler isnt seated correctly? or bios wrong as mine reports cpu temps incorrectly(same board)
Thanks Moogle, i have reseated a few times already temps were in the region of 73 degrees while stress testing, too hot for my liking! Hopefully will get temps much lower with watercooling on order (still waiting). My 4870 was the reason for watercooling so hopefully can get my temps down on the cpu.
Tried to rma my cpu for the E0 stepping no luck (1 week too late) still happy with C1 although the temps are slightly higher, wc will sort this.
I'm happy with 3.4ghz for the moment on this mobo considering this board suffers bad vdroop (without pencil fix) and stabilty issues.
4ghz is within my grasp, now which mobo to buy?
Conclusion: I want Nehalem! :)
Newstuff, what watercooling goodness have you gone for? Oh and just to let you know we will expect pictures :)
My Q9450 (X3350) C1 will only hit 3.4Ghz at 1.2875V :S
Not sure if its the CPU hitting the max or the motherboard is not up to the job. (Crap 965 chipset you know...)
Overvolted from 1.2625V to ensure 7*24 stability. x264 seems to product corrupted frame at 1.2625 even though passing 48hr Prime95.
Temperature is from 65~72'C across 4 cores at full load.
I am quite tempted to get a Q9650. Hear a lot of reports saying it could hit 4Ghz easily but I'm not so sure. 600Mhz more than what I have now will be great :)
