PC Memory advice

Hello,

I could need some guidance with a memory upgrade on my PC.

My MB is the Asus Maximus Formula SE, which can hold PC8500 ,1066 MHz.
I was looking at the Corsair TwinX 4GB Kit (2x2GB), but they also have the same as a 2GB Kit (2x1GB)
What would be best when it comes to Dual-Channel and all that stuff?

Another on is the brand of the memory.
I can get the Corsair 4GB total for about 75-80 GBP.
Ten on the other hand, I can get OCZ memory for almost half the price, but same memory size.

Any thoughts on that ?

When choosing memory while reliable brands are important you should also be looking at the default voltage at the rated speed and timings.
Some motherboards have problems booting faster memory modules who's voltages are higher then the standard 1.8v (or is it 1.9v?) without manually setting the voltage in the BIOS.
Most memory modules will also advertise a CAS Latency timing. It is favourable to find memory modules with lower CAS timings.

Building on what Circuitmonkey has said.

OCZ are a good brand if you can get 4Gb PC2-1066 for £50 then that is a bargain and worth considering. Timings are normally 5-5-5-15(or 18) for 1066 memory the only other thing to check is the voltage required (1.8v is the standard) for the chips the corsair is 2.1v I believe you will need to find out what the OCZ require or post a link here and I will let you know (if I can find out) and then ensure your motherboard will supply that voltage (which I am 99.9% sure yours will )

Oh better to have 2x2GB than 4x1Gb if possible allows for upgrades and is potentially easier to overclock and less stress on the memory controller

Installed them this evening, they are working fine.
Actually, it is the first memory I had no problems with right from the start.
On that occasion, I raised the CPU a little bit, which is now running at 3500MHz
Not too bad.
