Cool, AMD lead the way, Ive been told pentium were the better processor as they are more stable, But what do I know. So why do you all like AMD's?

The stability argument has never really been true; motherboards that support AMD CPUs have often been poor in the past, but this isn't really true anymore. Most of the big-name brands produce excellent quality boards for Athlons, which are no more expensive than P4 boards; when you match that up with the fact that Athlons are cheaper (significantly so) for similar performance, it becomes a bit of a no-brainer if you're rolling your own machine. Up until fairly recently it was true that if you had money to burn, you could get better performance at the absolute top end of the price range by buying Intel, but the Athlon64's rather rewritten that rule as well. The bottom line is, well, the bottom line; price/performance ratio.

a athlon in this machine. a duron in my dads, another in my mums. a k6-2 in my spare pc. another duron i have spare. a dead duron. a dead k6-2. 2 more k6-2's.
= 9 atm cpus in my house.
I have one intel cpu, a p166mmx sitting in a draw waiting to be thrown away

I agree about teh stability comment. AMD cpus have always had poor quality mobos untill the athlon cpus. If a machine is unstable then its not set up properly or hardware is damaged.

i used to have intel but now ive realised how pap they are, im on a XP2500 now

really is good, stable completely not like what someone else said, also, overclock well (XP3200 ) annnd price : performance, they win hands down
