Asus P5Q Series Default Voltages
Hello!
Recently built a Q6600 rig with a Asus P5Q-E board as the basis, and am currently running at 400*8 for 3.2... Not great, but the VID is quite high at 1.325...
Anyway, I would like to take it higher, but what i want to do is to manually set all the voltages manually instead of having the default [Auto] option, so i can isolate changes that I am making... However, I dont know how to find out what they are...
I have read somewhere that if you press + then the first value after auto is the default, but can anyone comment on this? There are quite a few P5Q board owners on this forum, so if you have any idea then let me know.
Thanks in advance
JP
Re: Asus P5Q Series Default Voltages
1.325V is perfectly fine with a Q6600.
Q9xxx series however, have a much lower voltage tolerance and 1.325 would be considered too high.
Re: Asus P5Q Series Default Voltages
Its not really about whether the CPU voltage is too high/low, I can monitor that fine, and the VID gives me a starting point to increase against. The problem is that in the BIOS for this board, all the other voltages are set to [Auto] which means that they can increase automatically as the board sees fit…
Apart from the DRAM voltage, which I know is 1.8, there are voltages for NB, SB etc, that I would like to set manually, so that when overclocking, I can make one change, and be certain that the [auto] isn’t – for example – upping the NB voltage. And I kinda need to know what values are being used so I can decide whether or not increasing values are within tolerance range.
FYI tho – actually having to run at 1.35 to get that speed… which seems a bit high… but its stable and not burning, so that will be fine for now :)
