Who would You believe? Manufacturer or Memory Site?

    Interesting one....

Trying to upgrade the memory on my Mates Laptop - an NEC Versa Premium+Lan.

According to the majority of Memory sites (Crucial, Kingston etc), the laptop can take a single 256mb PC100 sodimm.

Accodring to NEC, it can take a single 512mb PC133 stick.

    So.... Who would you believe?

    Thats quite a situation...
Dont suppose you can check it yourself?

I suppose i would go with the manufacturer of the lappy, as the memory sites may have got the wrong board....although you can argue it the other way round..

Ask NEC to confirm they are correct? Can you find any sites that will give a third party opinion?

Personally, I'd go with the more conservative of the two if you can't tell for certain.

    Well, according to crucial :

"As far as we are aware the parts we have listed are compatible. We have supplied these parts for your Versa Premium with a very good sales history."

No reply from NEC yet. Have take then plunge and ordered a 512 pc133 sodimm from crucial - Mainly cos if its free postage and they'll take it back if its wrong
