alright,
I'm trying to create a software RAID 5 volume using mdadm.
I'm running debian 2.6.18-6-486.
I created the RAID array and got everything working according to this guide.
I rebooted the machine to check that the RAID would stick and it didn't.
I received the
Code:
fsck.ext3: Invalid argument while trying to open /dev/md0
message and it bumped me into a maintenance shell after entering the root password.
Running mdadm --detail /dev/md0 yields this:
From the maintenance shell if i run
Code:
ls /dev/sd(double tab)
The drives sdb and sdc have their respective partitions sd*1 but sdd is by itself.
Using I check the partition table, and there is a partition there /dev/sdd1. Upon writing the partition and exiting fdisk, it appears under /dev/sdd1.
Cue
Code:
mdadm --stop /dev/md0
followed by and I get a fully assembled RAID again.
I've added the libata and sata_nv lines to the /etc/modules file, but cant figure out what else to do!
Cheers,
Steve
