best price for acer aspire one
i am looking to buy acer aspire one with this spec
1gb ram
1.6 atom cpu
120gb hdd
blue colour
with or without linux/xp
so far i found amazon the cheapest at 220 delivered
i dont mind if its cheaper with linux version becauuse i can slap win xp on it and save myself about 70 quid for the xp version
has it got two sd card slots , one is restricted for hard disk or memory expansion only ? and one i can use for read / write or is that the eee pc only
where are the speakers . is it two stereo under neath the keyboard or is it a single one mono speaker - i ask because my last 12" laptop only had one speaker which was very hard to hear out of
Re: best price for acer aspire one
I will first say that I have not hunted down prices but I can answer some other questions.
SD cards - It has 2 slots at in the SSD model, and I assume this is carried over to the HDD model as well although not sure how the drive expansion slot will operate when you have a HDD rather than a SSD
Speakers - Yes it has stereo speakers but they are not brilliant it has a headphone socket though so you can always add speakers/headphones if you require better sound. And they are under the keyboard no where else for them to go!
Re: best price for acer aspire one
I was looking at the acer ones but now the samsung nc10 has landed I am tempted to buy one of them instead :)
As for the acer that's about as cheap as you will see them for the 120gb hd with 1gb memory :) unless you can fob off pc world business and you will save about another tenner off that price but not worth the hassle for £10
Re: best price for acer aspire one
the one i am looking at has 120gb sata hdd , so does that model still have 2 sd card slots ?
Re: best price for acer aspire one
my budgets 200 ish so the ncq10 is not for me

Re: best price for acer aspire one
Think the manuals are available from their site aren't they?
EDIT:
looks like they have removed them.
Re: best price for acer aspire one
I have an Asus Eee 901 rather more expensive...
Anyway, I recently had a hands on with an Aspire One. My sister owns one, and I have to say I'm very impressed its a solid little machine. The linux distro it comes with, a version of linpus lite, is very nice, simple but very colourful and modern looking GUI. Battery goes about 2.5 hours with the wifi on.
Have you tried Kelkoo for price comparison. High street price seems to be around the £219.99 mark.

is it true that it canot do extended deslktop ., only clone mode ? as per complaints in website
Re: best price for acer aspire one
Yeah I believe it only supports clone if it will allow you to set the larger display to primary and clone that instead I don't know.
Oh and if your going to post very soon after yourself and nobody has replied then use the edit function to add it to your last post, thanks :)

The drive expansion only works in Linux. In XP the 2nd SD slot simply operates as that - an SD slot.
