My friend just spent sooo much on a PC

Hello wise ones...I have a burning question to ask. Would everything below be compatible, a friend of mine has seen it online somewhere and its an amazing machine, think he said he paid 4299.99 for it all.

    • Zalman Z-MACHINE GT1000-TI The Ultimate Gaming Case - Titanium Silver (No PSU)
    • 800W BFG ES-800 PSU, Quad 12V Rails, 80% and up Efficiency, ATX 12V 2.2/ EPS12V 2.91, SLI/Crossfire

    • Intel Skulltrail, i5400 Express 771x2 PCI-E (x16) DDR2 ECC/Non-ECC 800MHz, SATA II, SATA RAID, E-ATX
    • x2 Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9770, Yorkfield Core, S775, 3.2 GHz, 1600MHz, 12MB L2 Cache, 8x,
    • 8GB(4x2GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500(1066), 240Pin, NonECC Unbuffered, CAS 5
    • x2 1.5TB Seagate ST31500341AS Barracuda 7200.11, SATA, 7200 rpm, 32MB Cache
    • x2 2GB Power Color HD4870X2, PCI-E2.0, 3600MHz GDDR5, GPU 750MHz, 1600 Cores, CrossFire, 2x DLDVI/ HDTV
    • LG GGW-H20L Super Multi Blu-Ray Writer & HD-ROM Reader inc Lightscribe Support - SATA Retail kit
    • x2 Scythe Ninja II Heatpipe Cooler, with 120mm fan Socket 478, LGA775, 754, 939 and 940 and AM2
Would this computer be future proofed for years to come would he be able to put 2 ninja heatpipes on that mobo???

There is no such thing as future proof in performance computing, but it will be an extremely powerful (if completely OTT and stupid) PC for a couple of years at least.

Re: My friend just spent sooo much on a PC

The coolers might be tricky. Surely he will be wanting S771 CPU's and coolers for a S771 motherboard.

It's a pretty shameless waste and it won't last much longer than a £1500 PC would. If it is for gaming then that statement is even more appropriate. 8 core's will do nothing for him, in fact if he doesn't overclock he will get the same sort of CPU performance in game as a £55 E5200...

Core i7 is litterally weeks away and that is the next step, so it's already out dated in the world of "future proofing".

I can't even imagine the sort of heat problems he is going to have with those graphics cards unless he is watering cooling, and the performance gains will be unnoticable even at 2560 x 1600 which I hope he is running.

He is going to be really really peed off...... serves him right for spending soo much I guess. He does loads of number crunching, like cryptography or something like that.

Re: My friend just spent sooo much on a PC

Would Xeons not be better if he is doing number crunching? Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought that the Xeons were the most powerful ones you could get?

And for that price, i would expected to be alot more tbh. Still a waste of money, but he hasn't even got DDR3 RAM. When you compare his list to TAKTAK's, it seems a little short.

And for that price I'd throw in a few SSD drives tbh.

I think memory wont work either, if i remember correctly you need fully buffered memory on a skulltrail.

Does that case fit such a big mobo?
