    Cheapest PC for hd films

Hi, i'm trying to convince my mum to let me build a pc for blu-ray movies to connect up to the tv. I don't care about having a small case, all it needs to do is playback 1080p movies and do basic web surfing/word processing. Can you guys suggest a build for me that can do this?

Re: Cheapest PC for hd films

Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate come with Media Centre, so if you have either of those as OEM use it instead of buying XP - alot of people also think Vista Media Centre is better than XP anyway.

For the Blu-ray drive, that LG one has nice reviews, very quiet apparently but as it's out of stock you could look at a pioneer that costs a bit more but comes with some software that lets you watch blu-ray moves in powerdvd - the default oem version of powerdvd doesn't support blu-ray afaik.

For the hard drive I would go with one of the Western Digital Green power ones, very quiet and they use less power you don't need a 7200rpm drive for a media pc.

You can also use it to record tv if you get a tv tuner.
