    I finally convinced him to get the better PSU.

    And he's decided to go for the AMD chip and the ebuyer board that Webby mentioned.

    Well done, getting a decent PSU is soooo importan, i mean, what the point of saving money on a cheap on hwne you have top buy a new one in a month or two when the original decides to spontaneously combust, while its off!
    Also, I agree withe the AMD build, while the e1260/80 are very overclockable, the cheap AMD dual cores are still good value, with some overclocking headroom, and, that motherboard is good, as the integrated graphics will save you money and provide enough oomph,
    In fact, most cheapish builds could be done using AMD hardware, as the combo of a cheapish dualcore and motherboard will normally save you money compared to an intel systems, (decent motherboards are cheaper overall I would say for AMD cpu's)

    Just me.....
