DFI LT X38 - second LAN connection not showing?
Hey,
I've got this board set up and working fine, but I can't get the second LAN connection to show up in Windows. Both of them are enabled in the BIOS, and there are no additional settings for teaming etc. Usually an uninstalled adapter shows up as an unknown network device in Device Manager, but not so in this case.
The chips are Marvell 88E8052 and 88E8053 (the latter is the one that isn't showing up). I am using the latest drivers for the first adapter which were installed automatically from the Windows update site.
Any help appreciated!
Cheers,
Suman
Re: DFI LT X38 - second LAN connection not showing?
Unfortunately it probably means it's not working and you need to RMA the board. You have tried forcing hardware detection I presume?

Hey,
Not sure what you mean by forcing hardware detection. How do I do that?

Re: DFI LT X38 - second LAN connection not showing?
Well you go to device manager and scan for hardware changes. Exactly how you do that depends on your OS. In Vista right click on the PC icon at the top of the list pane. In XP I think it's on the menu at the top.

Problem solved! Found this over at Clunk.org...
Quote:
PCIE Slot Config:
PCI-E #2 and PCI-E #4 transfer status:
* 1x 1x: PCI-E 2 / 4 are running at 1x speed.
* 4x NC: PCI-E #4 is running at 4x speed, PCI-E #2 will be disabled and on board LAN2 will also be disabled.

Re: DFI LT X38 - second LAN connection not showing?
Lol. So is that a Bug or a 'Feature'?
Re: DFI LT X38 - second LAN connection not showing?
It's a feature, due to the fact that the GigE controller needs a PCIe lane, and if you give PCIe-4 four lanes, there aren't any left for the controller :)
