    Ratio question 1:1 or 5:4

    Hi all,

I plan to OC my 3Ghz to 3225 by running the FSB at 215.
    I have PC3200 Corsair C2 2X512MB which I have seen in some reviews hit 230 at 2.8v

Is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to run the ratio at 1:1
I have heard the mobo sometimes forces the ratio to 5:4
I am going to run it all on an ASUS P4C800 875

Should there be a reason why the ratio won't hold at 1:1 with my components ??

    Cheers all

My P4P800 has a BIOS option called "DRAM Frequency" that is set to Auto by default, which I guess will be the same in your P4C800.

You need to change this to 400 to keep the memory running at 1:1 otherwise, as you say, it'll decide to switch it to 5:4 (333) or even 3:2 (266).

Make sure you get it running in 1:1 as you will see a performace drop at 5:4, as one will have to wait for the other.

Also, as its corsair im sure itll be fine going fast

Just try it, if it doesnt boot hit insert whilst turning it on, or reset cmos! Then up the ram voltage a bit, if it still doesnt work slacken the timings etc.. etc..
